A little about who
we are.
The “Doc’s Deepwood Run”
is a non-profit organization. All monies derived from our events go to improve
the quality of life for individuals with mental retardation and/or developmental
disabilities.
Doc’s Deepwood Run started as a compassionate idea by a Vietnam Veteran known
simply as “Doc.” In 1998 funding for the operation of the Deepwood Center had
been drastically reduced because of a failed county levy. Doc saw the need and
came up with the idea of raising funds through an organized motorcycle ride and
raffle. These funds would go to help the mentally retarded and developmentally
disabled clients of Deepwood. Since that date, “Doc’s Deepwood Run” has assisted
thousands of these special individuals. Not only at the Deepwood Center but also
through out the state of Ohio. With an added benefit of increasing the publics'
awareness of their special needs. This simple beginning has evolved into a
well-organized annual program operated by dedicated groups of volunteers.
We are truly a family!
The Viet Nam Vets Motorcycle Club is made up of individuals
though out the United States who served in the arm forces of the United States
of America during the Viet Nam Conflict and enjoy the sport of motorcycling. The
Blue Knights International Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club is an international
organization of active and retired law enforcement men and women who enjoy the
sport of motorcycling. Finally, but certainly not least are the dedicated
individuals working in the field of Mental Retardation and Developmental
Disabilities and the volunteers from the public sector. Many of the individuals
in these groups working long hard hours to raise money for various charities
near to their hearts to help those who are unable to help themselves. |
